If African political news is what fascinates you the most, then the news of signing a deal between Kenya and Jersey for the return of misappropriated funds to Nairobi will be surely likable. It is about the remarkable step taken by Jersey and Kenya governments to fight the financial corruption issues and secure the stolen funds again. Samuel Gichuru, the ex chief Executive of KLPC (Kenya Power and Lighting Company) was involved in the misappropriation of funds amounting to more than $3.8 million that were seized by the Royal Court of Jersey in last February. The return process of money has been finalized with signing of an agreement between the two concerned government after dealing with all legal complicacies of seizing and asset sharing that took around a year.

Both the owner of Windward Trading Limited (Gichuru) and ex energy minister of Kenya (Chrysanthus Okemo ) were found guilty of money laundering charges that left Kenya deprived of its exclusive funds for more than five years. By signing an agreement with the Government of Jersey, Kenya will be able to get back its fund without any further difficulty.

Taking advantage of their high posts, Chrysanthus Okemo and Gichuru instigated financial crime and were fighting against their expatriation proceedings initiated by Jersey Government for this crime since June 2011.
Jersey not just cooperated with Kenya to seize and secure its money lost to criminal activities like money laundering but also gave a strong message to the world to stand for such causes in future also.
